i dont under stand what the point is of putting chrome rims on SUVs. SUVs and trucks are made for off-roading, and getting mud on them, hauling stuff, hauling people. now there is all this chrome shit on SUVs and trucks. the funniest thing is when i see a hummer, which only has ONE purpose, to off road. i see hummers with giant chrome rims, lowered like 4 inches, chrome grill and a body kit?
In general chrome rims are kinda ugly and obnoxious. Do people think that it is cool to have chrome rims. And wats up with all these Honda civics, with the decals, and spoilers, rims and ugly body kits.
Cuz lets be honest, you have 150 hp ,and no torque. Do you think putting all that shit on ur car makes it faster? or cooler? better?. and then they cut a hole in the exhaust and then it sounds like a freaking lawn mower. Im not going to associate and race with cars like these cuz most of us know the majority of the people who drive these cars are _______.

….i dont know…what else to say………and dont get me wrong i think EVERY single honda civic is a wonderful car, id love to have one. its just that as soo as you put that ugly azz wing on it, its becomes and embarrassment to all of Asia.

American cars can become “ricey” also but not alot of cobalts and cavaliers are “pimped”

wat do u think about putting chrome rims on cars, and those body kits. wat do u think about ricers.
im not hating on the cars, im not hating on the people who drive them, im just wondering what their mentality is

Heh… Well, cars are bought not so much for utility as they are for appeal. I would venture to say that MAYBE 1 Hummer in every 1000 bought MIGHT see a dirt road in its lifetime. Most people who have that kind of money and are looking for a vehicle capable of off road performance are going to buy a Land Rover.

Nonono! 20″ is WAY to big. It’s gong to slow it down and make the handling even worse!! Put 18′s on the back with 17′s on the front! That my friend would be truly sick

there is more than just finding the right amount of wheel nut holes, you will also need to factor in the off set you will need. what car is it for? model and year always help what sized rim you want, be it 15 16 17 18.

Has anybody ever wondered why car wheel rims appear as if they are spinning backwards at a fast speed (maybe at least 25 mph?), then at slow speeds, the rims return back to their forward rotation. Has anybody else noticed this and can explain why this happens? I am guessing something to do with how the light is reflected off of the rims creating an optical illusion.
I do not mean spinners either, sorry for the confusion, but I do appreciate the effort.

I recently bought a 2008 Scion tC (yesterday) and i have several sets of rims lying around but i’m curious as to how i could paint the stock rims and keep them from chipping? they are the simple aluminum 5 spoke (10 total) rims … any suggestions?

You will need to contact an automotive paint store, and acquire the equivelant to Zinc Chromate… the primer used to prep aluminum semi truck bodies. No other options for making paint stick to aluminum.

I have a 2003 Chevy s-10 LS, ext cab, 4.3l v6, 4×4.
Right now I have the factory 15″ rims and standard road tires. I am looking to get a 2″ suspension lift and want to know what size rims and tires will work with this lift. Don’t want it to be a complete off road mud truck. Just a little extra for looks and the occasional off road moments. What setup would work good with a 2″ suspension lift?

Probably best to wait ’til after the lift is done before you look for rubber. As to rims, that’s quite a personal thing, so you could start looking now for them. Then, the rubber sizes can be tweaked a bit depending on the rims you get, so that everything fits.

I was talking to a friend and we got into a discussion about rims on car tires. We saw an SUV with huge rims and we both kind of asked each other if huge rims like that give an SUV any benefit other than the aesthetic value and making the car look cool.

It depends on how big. Putting an 18″ wheel on a mustang shortens the sidewall of the tire but not so far that it kills ride quality. This helps improve handling and sharpness. Put some 22″ wheels on SUV’s, they increase stopping distances, reduce the load capacity, increase chances of a tire blowout, ruin the ride quality and generally make a big SUV into generally a rolling death machine. This is why I advocate making wheels over a certain size illegal.

First of all I have a few Ideas floating around for what to do with my Black 4×2 Crew Cab Nissan Titan. I dont know if I should lift it and put 18″ chrome with all terrain tires, put 22″ black rims with chrome lip, or just go with a straight chrome 22″. If I had a 4×4 I would no dount go with the lift, but I dont off road much, just pull a trailer full of quads every now and then.

Funny Idea I had was to just go with a 22″ rim and take 2 chrome and 2 black of the same rim and have the best of both worlds. 1 side chrome, 1 side black. what do you think? call me crazy, but noone would ever see both sides at the same time… lets here some feedback

First off changing the direction of rotation of tires is not reccomended. Secondly who makes a wheel with “0″ offset? Good luck Titans with 20″ are out and the new Pro-4x has them as options. 22″ wheels are ok until you have to lift them onto the studs. Good Luck

I got a jeep wrangler and want to put some big rims on it. Would I be able to fit 24” rims without having to do a lift or anything. What kind of tires would I have to get. Do they make tires that have that off road tred for a 24” rim?

I don’t know how big you can get, but I do know that they do NOT make a 24 inch off road tire. The biggest i’ve heard of are 19s.
